Wedding

The Guys’ Ties

The groomsmen are each wearing one of these fun colored ties to match the girls’ respective shoes and the fun fireworks theme. My mom and I searched high and low for solid colored ties to match and finally found these on our way through Macy’s. They had the most beautiful solid silk ties in every color by Geoffrey Beene. And these were just screaming to be bought. They men are wearing black suits and shirts so these bright colors will be sure to stand out. So who gets what color you may ask? Tyler will have the Orange tie to match my sister’s shoes. Dale gets pink because I thought it would look dashing on him, and his wife, Christina, agreed. Steve gets the blueish/green which kind of suits his natural demeanor… and Ben, who is Hope’s date, gets the royal purple. Hope you like them, fellas. I can’t wait to see how good looking you all are in them!

Wedding Dress

I had to post this picture because Shelby gave me a wedding dress hanger that was hand twisted to say Mrs. Gatlin! So I cleaned up and figured, only a week or so left, might as well be reminded every day that I am going to be wearing this awesome dress at our wedding! Plus is looks really good hanging in this victorian house of ours with a crystal chandelier in the background. The hanger is sooo very cool and was made by Anna Hartshorn. She has a shop on Etsy called LilaFrances if you ever go to a shower and want to get something personalized. The dress will be perfect for the beach and the fireworks theme. It is a Galina wedding dress from David’sBridal.

Wedding Shoes

My mom and I went shopping for shoes this past weekend to wear with my dress. I was looking for some silver shoes with sparkle to match the beadwork on my wedding gown. We found a number of pairs at the Shoe Carnival and in the Cool Springs Mall, but nothing that I just had to have. Both places did have lots to choose from though and I was very tempted to buy lots of shoes while we were out. We decided to wait and try again later this week. (Yes, I am saving all the important things, like shoes, for last) But when I told Tom I was coming home empty handed he went to Burlington Coat Factory and picked up these gorgeous shoes for me! He really liked them and I think they are perfect. Nothing like having a guy bring you home a blingin’ pair of heels that he wants you to wear. Plus he has a great track record buying me shoes, who knew.

A Beautiful Wedding Shower

Shelby Baxter (Tom’s sister) and Kathy Beasley (Tom’s grandmother) hosted Tom and I a beautiful shower this past Sunday, August 22nd. They really outdid themselves with personalized detailing and wonderful decor and food. I loved these super cute napkins and the cupcakes were all the rage. It was a great time to celebrate with Tom’s family and friends. It was very special to prepare for the upcoming wedding and our new beginnings with many of those closest to us. We are so thankful for all the love and well wishes we received at the event. Everyone was very generous and as always full of laughter. I think the best moment was when Tom cut one of the ribbons on a gift just to find out that breaking a ribbon at a wedding shower means you will have a child… The look on his face was priceless! Needless to say we won’t be having children in the near future, but Tom and I are fairly superstitious and the notion scared us silly. We gathered many an idea from Shelby’s planning expertise about things we need for our own wedding, thank goodness someone in the family knows how to throw a party. It was indeed a very special event for the both us us. Thank you to everyone who shared in the day!

Registry

Now that we have found each other there really isn’t much more we could ask for. Our main priority is not one of gifts but of friends, family, and one another. The best gift someone could give us would be to come share in our special day on Tybee Island. As for a registry, we have compiled a list of ideas and links to help us start our new life together and make our house a home.  Most of the ideas are on our Amazon Wedding Registry. Those that are listed here and are are not necessarily on the Registry are up for interpretation.

-Heirloom Plants for our Garden
-Contracted Painter for a couple of rooms (our ceilings are so high!)
-Tall and Skinny Christmas Tree (~10ft)
-Patio Furniture
-Rain Barrel System
-Solar Panels to put on Garage Roof (we know this one is a long shot)
-Couch Fund

Amazon Wedding Registry

We tried to keep the registry simple by only using Amazon.com for our wedding registry. They offer a wonderful tool so we can pull anything off the web that we would like to receive and include it on the list. Just look for either Jonathan Gatlin or Elizabeth Jewell under the wedding list part of the site. (or just click on the picture above) We are trying to only add those things we need and/or really want to the list and narrowing it down is tough. So check back often if nothing strikes your fancy the first couple of times. We will be adding more in the upcoming days.

The Couch Fund

When we moved to Nashville, Tom and I unfortunately had to get rid of two couches. Now that we have settled into our new house, we wish we still had one. So we are starting a couch fund to save up for just the right piece of furniture to put in our living room. Tom of course wants something leather and long lasting (ie. the Kensington Grand Sofa, above), and I just want something comfortable so people will feel at home when they visit. Any donation to this fund will get us one step closer to our dream couch!

Home Depot Gift Cards

We would love Home Depot or other similar store gifts cards! We just bought a new house and would like to make some improvements  here and there. It would be very meaningful for us to know our new bathroom, kitchen, or painted deck is there because of your generosity. Plus, we could use them for almost anything that comes up unexpectedly. Phew, what a gift peace of mind can be when we are figuring out the important stuff in our lives together.

Sense of Style

Tom has created a wonderful list of images that speak to us when it comes to the interior design of our home. If you want to be creative, look to these images for help. Go to Tom’s Kit to find these photos and more about what Tom likes. Feel free to scroll through them, if nothing else they are beautiful images of space that might even inspire you for your own design projects!

The Ring!

Wow, look at that rock! Tom got me a beautiful 1.03 karat, round brilliant-cut diamond solitaire ring when he proposed and I absolutely love it! The diamond is inscribed with “Tom and Liz, Always and Forever” on the girdle, and it is so special to me. I am proud to wear this stunning ring even though it took some getting used to. I still have to watch out or I will end up scratching myself or Tom with it. Ha! When I wear it though, I am reminded everyday that Tom loves me with all his heart and that I love him just as much. I am the luckiest girl on earth!

Ghost Tour

Savannah is known nation wide as one of the spookiest places on earth, so why not go on a ghost tour while we are there? Hope you have read “A midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” and versed yourself in ghost whispering techniques because we have planned  to go on a walking Ghost Tour of Savannah!

Tara Haunted Tours is a creepy but fun walking tour to do while in Savannah. It is the #1 rated Ghost Tour in Savannah and we have many options for types of tours. It’s very personal and informative with haunting tales that go back to the origin of Savannah to present day time. We plan on going Saturday evening after the rehearsal dinner and would love for you to join us!

Let us know if you would like to go so we can make Group Reservations.

Tyler House

The Best of Men. A genuine bard, versifier, and author. Tyler and I have been brothers since time immemorial. Pure goodwill to the core. Valuing little or no material possessions, only friendships and experiences, Tyler breezes by with a lassez-faire demeanor and always has a melody that follows.

Stephen Garth

This man is a genius.

Literally. A mathematician and distinguished outdoorsman, Steve is currently completing his premier trek on the Appalachian Trail over 2,178 miles, from Maine to Georgia. His future holds a PhD in Mathematics, solving paradoxes, theories, and mutable and immutable timelines. He retains a capability and capacity of mental nimbleness that can be described as nothing short of sheer brilliance. Little does he know, but he was my inspiration to become an Eagle Scout. After seeing a news report when he received his Award at age 14, shortly after, I joined Troop 161. Always inspiring, he is an impeccable friend.

Ben Ealey

Ben and I met in high school whilst at a LAN party. Two years later, while carrying balloons and a cookie cake into Liz’s apartment for a surprise birthday party, I met him once more. His girlfriend, Hope, lived next door. Over the next three years, our friendship grew into a brotherly bond. He is a superiorly amiable chap from beyond America’s borders. He has a drollery that cannot be topped, and liveliness that is supreme.

Dale Stubblefield

Though our friendship has been short, Dale is my Brother. He and his wife live exactly one block down the street, and their presence is always welcome. A fellow Mason, Dale was instrumental in my progression to Master Mason, and for that, I am incredibly grateful. A Linux Guru by trade, it is always comforting to know that someone knows what I am referring to when discussing digital data processing. He has a certain charisma while engaged in the entertainment and is a joy to call a friend.

Robyn Umans

Robyn Umans has been one of my best friends since 7th grade when I came to Meigs middle school as a newbie. She immediately befriended me and we spent all of our time together, from Band to Biology. Through high school, different heartbreaks, classes, and triumphs we have stayed thick as thieves. Robyn is a gem in the rough when it comes to life long friends. She is fun, smart, and enthusiastic, and unlike so many others that come and go; her friendship never falters.

Robyn knows both Tom and I from school and has been a wonderful part of our lives for the entirety of our relationship as friends and soul mates. She is currently busy getting her Doctorate in Memphis so we don’t get to see her as often as we would like but thank goodness we DO get to catch up every time she comes home for holidays and fun. We love spending time with her every chance we get and can’t wait to see her as part of our wedding!

Kimberly Bartholomew

Kim Bartholomew was my freshman room mate at UT. Over the years we have become very close and she is a wonderful steadfast friend that made my time in school better than I could have imagined. I have been blessed to get to spend the last 5 years with her and through everything I could always count on Kim. She is a brilliant witty woman who always has a new perspective on things and is one of the few people who knows me through and through.

Kim is also getting married this year and is starting a new life in North Carolina as a French teacher. I will miss being able to see her on a whim or just sit around by the pool and talk about dreams, love, and decorating. We have so much in common it will be hard not having someone who understands me as she does close by. Regardless of the distance I know we will keep in touch. I am excited about us both embarking on a new adventure together and to start that is exactly why I need her by my side at my wedding. She is a one of a kind kindred spirit and I can’t wait to share my day with her.

Marianna Jewell

My Maid of Honor is, of course my amazing older sister, Marianna Jewell. I am so lucky to have Marianna in my life. She is a smart courageous woman who any girl could look up to. Now that she has moved back to Nashville I get to spend more time with her, and I absolutely love having her around. Marianna is so strong, honest, and empowering. She epitomizes the best older sister a girl could have and she has encouraged me to also be the best woman I can be.

Marianna is always there to offer sound advice, a funny story, and loads of fun. She can do anything she sets her mind to and loves to prove it! She is the best game competitor I have come across and she will win every time. We are still working on Tom and my strategies to overcome her in cards. Marianna is an incredible singer and travel buddy as well. We have spent many a car trip listening to her voice on her Nothing But Treble CD and wishing she were there. I made sure she was the one standing by me as I take Tom to be my husband. What more could I ask for?

Elizabeth Hope Robinson

Elizabeth Hope Robinson is one of the most incredible people you could ever meet. This wonderful woman has brought so much light to my life these past two years I am eternally indebted to her. My mom and sister are always commenting on how beautiful she is and they are right. She has a heart of gold! I could not imagine sharing my special day without her.

Hope has been a best friend of both Tom and I since we met her as my neighbor in Knoxville. We instantly became bosom friends when Tom helped move her into her new place and we got to know each other better. We  share so many wonderful memories, like, painting in our underwear in the middle of the summer, hiking in the smokies and fall creek falls, and just spending evenings on the couch doing homework and watching Glee. She is like family to us and we would not have the relationship we share today without her insights, encouragement, and friendship.

The Little Black Dress

I wanted to find a dress that would look good on every girl because all my bridesmaids are absolutely stunning in their own right. This flirty little satin dress is right on trend with paillette details on the skirt that add sparkle and flair. Plus, the full skirt and fitted bodice make a statement while the strapless top keeps the look young and fresh. I figured black would be perfect for the evening wedding and what girl doesn’t need a little black dress, plus this one has pockets! All of the Bridesmaids look incredible in their dresses and are sure to knock your socks off in the wedding!
